Liverpool to offload Alberto Aquilani to AC Milan for only £3 million

While it was thought that Liverpool would bring Alberto Aquilani back to Anfield and see what Brendan Rodgers was going to make of the Italian that had originally joined the club with so much hype in 2010, it now appears that AC Milan are poised to keep the 27-year-old after all.

Although the Rossonari originally opted out of the signing of Aquilani per Liverpool’s loan agreement with them for the 2011-12 season, TalkSport is claiming that the Italian is set to be allowed to leave for only £3 million.

That price shows a massive loss on the Reds part as they splashed out just over £20 million for him to AS Roma at the start of the 2009-10 season and he is yet to have a full season with the club during his five-year contract.
The talented Italian showed flashes of brilliance in the second half of 2009-10 under Rafael Benitez, but was never utilized by Roy Hodgson or Kenny Dalglish despite Aquilani’s strong showings in Liverpool’s summer 2011 preseason friendly matches.
